The Generac RTSC400A3 400A automatic transfer switch offers robust performance for single-phase, 120/240V systems. Built in a NEMA 3R-rated steel enclosure for outdoor durability, this non-service entrance-rated switch is engineered for use with Generac standby generators ranging from mid-size residential to larger light commercial units.

With an open-transition design, the RTSC400A3 ensures safe and efficient switching between utility and generator power without overlap. The heavy-duty Generac contactor is electrically operated and mechanically held for fast, positive connections, and its silver alloy contacts resist welding and sticking for extended service life.

The unit integrates load management technology via its Smart A/C Module (SACM), allowing management of up to four HVAC loads and, when paired with Smart Management Modules, up to eight additional loads. All sensing and timing — including adjustable generator start delay, warmup, retransfer, cooldown, and exercise cycles — are handled by the generator’s onboard controller. Manual operation without applied power is also possible, providing flexibility during maintenance or emergencies.
