Generac Mobile Link is a remote-monitoring service that receives supported status information from a connected generator. Depending on the controller, connection device, app version, region, and subscription, it can show current status, history, maintenance information, and reported alarms. It does not replace the generator controller, maintenance, or on-site safety checks.
What a supported account can show
- Current reported status, such as Ready to Run, Switched to OFF, exercising, or stopped by an alarm.
- Status history and, on supported systems, reported fault or alarm codes.
- Maintenance reminders and records associated with the enrolled generator.
- Run or exercise information that the controller and connection successfully transmitted.
- Optional fuel-monitor readings when compatible hardware and an eligible plan are present.
Generac’s status-history guide emphasizes that available telemetry varies by controller and that Mobile Link requires a reliable Wi-Fi or cellular connection.
Basic and Premium are not the same alert service
| Feature | Basic monitoring | Premium or other eligibility |
|---|---|---|
| Current status and supported history | Included for compatible generators. | Included. |
| Monthly summary and maintenance tracking | Included where supported. | Included. |
| Immediate email, text, and push alerts | Not included. | Included on eligible paid plans and supported devices. |
| Fuel-monitor capacity | Not included as a stand-alone free fuel plan. | Requires an eligible paid plan and compatible monitor. |
| Dealer-managed monitoring | Not automatic. | Requires a separate dealer-managed arrangement. |
Features and prices can change. Use Generac’s current plan comparison before purchasing instead of relying on an old screenshot or quoted subscription price.
Next Generation models have a current web limitation
Generac currently says Next Generation Series generators from 2025 forward use the iOS or Android Mobile Link app for generator status and status history. The website can still manage the account and subscription, but it does not currently provide those models’ status-history view. This distinction matters when a person believes history has disappeared in a browser.
Remote exercise controls are compatibility-dependent
Some Premium accounts with a compatible Power Zone 200 controller can issue Exercise Now commands, including a supported power-transfer exercise. Other controllers or plans will not show those choices. Generac lists the controller and subscription requirements.
A remote command is not a substitute for knowing whether the intended household circuits transferred successfully. Read the exercise-cycle guide before treating a no-load run as a full system test.
What the app cannot prove
- A stale status does not prove the generator is in that state now.
- A lost connection does not prove the engine stopped.
- “Ready” does not certify fuel pressure, transfer-switch operation, or available load capacity.
- An alert dismissal does not repair the condition that produced it.
- Remote monitoring does not make it safe to ignore gas odor, flooding, storm damage, or a CO alarm.
Generac states that Mobile Link is not required for the generator to run in AUTO; the controller and installation operate independently of the monitoring account. Its Wi-Fi setup guidance recommends confirming a reliable connection before paying for a subscription.
When reporting a problem, provide the local controller message, the Mobile Link timestamp, and whether the generator can be safely observed on site. Use the error-code guide if an alarm is present.
