Frequently Asked Questions

Most Popular Questions

A standby generator is permanently installed outside your home or business and turns on automatically when the power goes out. It can power the entire building or just essential circuits, depending on your setup. Portable generators must be manually started, require refueling, and can only power a few items through extension cords or a manual transfer switch.

Our experts offer free site assessments to determine your exact needs based on your electrical panel, square footage, HVAC, and critical loads. Brite Gen offers systems ranging from 10 kW for essential backup all the way to 150 kW for full facility coverage.

Not at all. While we handle full installation and service across Southern KY and Northern TN, we ship Generac generators and parts nationwide. If you’re outside our service area, we can coordinate with a local licensed contractor or provide remote tech support.

Most home standby systems can be installed in one to two days, depending on permitting and weather. Our turnkey process includes everything, concrete pad (if needed), fuel hookup, transfer switch, and electrical tie-in.

Just like your car, a generator needs oil changes, filter swaps, and regular checks. Air-cooled models should be serviced every 6 months. We offer maintenance plans and reminder services so you’re always covered.

Generac does offer promotional financing options through the Generac Credit Card, including 0% APR plans for qualified buyers. If you're interested, let us know and we'll confirm what current promotions are available and help you apply through Generac’s official partner, Synchrony Bank.

Generac Guardian & Protector Series

Guardian series air-cooled units operate at around 67 dB—about the sound of an outdoor AC unit. During weekly self-tests, they run even quieter (~55–57 dB). Liquid-cooled Protector units are also sound-attenuated and suitable for neighborhoods.

Models 18–26 kW can provide whole-house coverage for most homes when paired with a whole-house transfer switch. For larger estates or businesses, our Protector series (25–150 kW) is ideal.

Guardian series units run on natural gas or propane. Protector series offers models in NG, LP, and diesel (15–50 kW). Diesel is ideal for remote sites or facilities without utility gas.
